AFRICAN REGGAE DOCUMENTARY

Starring Corey Harris


Acclaimed bluesman and musicologist Corey Harris travels to urban centers in Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast to explore the fascinating culture and artists of contemporary African reggae. The film will follow Corey as he engages these artists in discussions about their music, culture and society, and as he performs with them in fascinating cultural locations. The product will be a full-length feature film and full-length compilation record.

Over the last 12 years, Corey Harris has released eight celebrated albums on Alligator, Rounder, and now the Telarc label (ALLMUSIC PAGE). Corey's most recent album, ZION CROSSROADS, is a masterful blend of western and African reggae and blues. Hear some of it at (CoreyHarrisMusic).

Corey has performed with countless music legends, including BB King, Taj Majal, Billy Bragg and Wilco, Ali Farka Toure, Keb Mo, and Natalie Merchant. He was the star and host of Martin Scorsese's documentary, FEEL LIKE GOIN' HOME, which traced the roots of delta blues to western Africa.

Corey is widely acclaimed among artists, scholars and music lovers for the unique breadth of his style and his devotion to the study of roots music. His influences include delta blues, reggae, American country, gospel, African and Caribbean folk music, and New Orleans Jazz.

Daniel Patinkin, founder of Collective Endeavors, an independent entertainment company, has lived and worked in Chicago for most of his life.
Over the last four years he has procured financing and/or contributed to the production of several notable feature film projects, including John Malkovich's DRUNKBOAT and Aloura Charles' RESERVATIONS.

Dan has also managed or collaborated with several prominent musicians. Dan co-produced Zack Hexum's recent album, OPEN TO CLOSE, and has contributed to hard rocker Geno Lenardo's upcoming debut record with his new band, SOUTH OF EARTH.

Dan also has extensive professional experience in real estate and finance. He currently runs the equities trading division at an independent financial firm in Chicago.
